I want to introduce you to Great Taste Chinese Restaurant, a spot that locals in New Britain quietly recommend when someone asks where to get reliable Chinese food without the fuss. Located at 597 W Main St, New Britain, CT 06053, United States, this Chinese restaurant has an easygoing feel that makes it work just as well for a quick weekday meal as it does for a relaxed dinner with friends. When you walk in, the atmosphere is simple and comfortable, letting the food do most of the talking.
What stands out right away is how flexible Great Taste Chinese Restaurant is for different dining styles. Some days you might want to sit down and enjoy a calm dine-in experience, while other days call for takeaway or delivery that still feels fresh when it arrives. That convenience is a big reason people keep coming back, especially when schedules are tight but expectations for flavor stay high.
The menu leans heavily into comfort food, with familiar Chinese favorites that are satisfying without feeling heavy. At the same time, there’s enough variety to keep things interesting. You’ll find healthy options alongside classic quick bites, plus small plates that are easy to share. For guests who prefer plant-based meals, vegan and vegetarian options are available, making it easier for mixed groups to order without compromise.
Drinks are also part of the experience here. The restaurant offers alcohol selections that include beer, wine, cocktails, and spirits, along with coffee for those who want something lighter. A private dining room adds another layer, especially for small gatherings or quiet celebrations where you still want good food and a relaxed setting. Overall, the vibe stays casual and welcoming, which fits perfectly with the neighborhood feel of this Chinese restaurant. It’s the kind of place you mention in conversation because it feels dependable, familiar, and easy to enjoy, no matter if you’re dining solo or bringing company.

My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant! I have been coming here for years...30 plus. This place has incredible taste for food and the service is nothing but the best. (Rivals Disney). My favorite soup is their hot and sour, solid every time. Gotta get the Tsing Tao beer. We order beef and broccoli, general tso chicken prok fries rice. Thank you for continuing dedication to great service and great food. (Pun intended)!
Recommendation: Peking Duck. . Detailed Review: My wife had a endoscopy today. I picked her up at 4:30pm. Since she was still affected by the anesthetic, we decided to order dinner to pick up. I ordered a Egg Drop Soup (quarter) for her and we share a Peking Duck. This review will mainly focus on the food I guess. When I get in the restaurant to pick up my food, I took some photos of the inside. It looks clean and cozy. - Egg Drop Soup: fragrant, good. My wife likes it. I tried some spoons and have to agree with her. - Peking Duck: the best part of this dish is they have a side Duck meat and veggies. I went to other Chinese restaurants for Peking Duck, after they cut the meat and skin, they will throw away 75% of the Duck. Not here, aside with a dish of meat with skin, they have a dish with meat with veggies and sauce. They are both good. According to the price range, I give it 5/5. . My bill total is $67. . So I would say I give the food 5/5. Now that I like the Duck and the atmosphere of this restaurant, I will go back and try their Lobsters.
Came here with my coworkers for lunch. Service was incredibly fast. Our waiter kept our drinks (water & soda) full & cleared our plates when we were done with our appetizers. I've been to many Chinese food restaurants and this truly is, by far, the best one yet. When I asked for super spicy General Tso's, I wasn't disappointed. It took us longer to eat than for us to wait for anything else. We took our time as we chatted. Really great atmosphere, staff, and food.
Tell us what you ordered and what it cost. Two or three sentences about one dish is more useful to the next person than a star rating.
